Hard to Focus

Lately, I feel as though my incessant and rambling thoughts are best expressed in songs rather than writing (which inevitably turns into some long and wordy rant!). So here are a few that play regularly in my mind...and on my computer. :)

"Where I Stood" Missy Higgins

I don't know what I've done
Or if I like what I've begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me it's all or none

There were sounds in my head
Little voices whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found myself listening

'Cos I don't know who I am,
who I am without you
All I know is that I should

And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

See I thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right
But you ain't leaving without a fight
And I think I am just as torn inside

'
Cos I don't know who I am,
who I am without you
All I know is that I should

And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

And I won't be far from where you are if ever you should call
You meant more to me than anyone I ever loved at all
But you taught me how to trust myself and so I say to you
This is what I have to do

"Whether You Fall" Tracy Bonham

Whether it's the sunshine
whether it's the rain
Doesn't make a difference
'til you complain
Whether it's the water
coming in from the roof
Does it piss you off
that you're not water proof?

Whether you fall means nothing at all
It's whether you get up, it's whether you get up

And you hate the silence as it fills up the room
And there's not much to say to your blushing groom
Maybe all eyes are on you
as you finish the race
And the world sees you
struggling for last place

Whether you fall means nothing at all
It's whether you get up, it's whether you get up

"Hide and Seek" Imogen Heap

where are we?
what the hell is going on?
the dust has only just begun to fall
crop circles in the carpet
sinking feeling

spin me round again
and rub my eyes,
this can't be happening
when busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads - heavy

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines
all those years
they were here first

oily marks appear on walls

where pleasure moments hung before the takeover,
the sweeping insensitivity of this still life

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines
(oh, you won't catch me around here)
blood and tears (hearts)
they were here first

Mmmm whacha say,
Mmmm that you only meant well?
well of course you did
Mmmm whacha say,
Mmmm that its all for the best?
Because it is
Mmmm whacha say?
Mmmm that it's just what we need
you decided this
whacha say?
Mmmm what did she say?

ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs
speak no feeling
no i don't believe you

you don't care a bit,
you don't care a bit
